Mr. Gilles Pécout, Ambassador of France to Austria, and his team, Mrs. Béatrice Ducharme and Mr. Jérémie Le Guillou, did us the great honor of visiting our research center on Wednesday, April 26, 2023. Mr. Pécout and his team first had the opportunity to meet with Mr. Siegfried Spanz and Mr. Peter Granig, respectively Director and Rector of CUAS. We then had a complete tour of the CUAS research facilities in Villach, before focusing on the activities of the CiSMAT center (incl. PCM materials, integrated sensors, and metamaterials). During his visit, Mr. Pécout was able to meet and discuss with several young researchers of the CiSMAT center, including two Frenchmen (Mr. Claude Humbert and Mr. Pierre Jeltiri). The presence in our premises of Prof. Omar Elmazria, from the University of Lorraine, also allowed us to discuss, in the best possible conditions, our active collaboration (notably through co-supervised PhD theses) with several high-level French research centers, including the Institut Jean Lamour (University of Lorraine, Nancy) and the Roberval Laboratory (Université de Technologie de Compiègne).
This prestigious visit is an important step for the CiSMAT center. It is also a source of great motivation to continue the development of innovative solutions based on Smart Materials, for the industry and society of the future!
